The Future Is Now With Artificial Intelligence (AI)

It's not a rumor or a technology on the horizon; it is already part of our lives and one of the greatest evolutionary events in the world, comparable to the industrial revolution, the introduction of computers, or the arrival of man on the moon.
Although we use Artificial Intelligence daily on our social networks with the application of algorithms to find interesting content, or our frequent searches on Google, the year 2022 marks a before and after in being able to generate digital content that, truth be told, is intimidating in its ability to mimic human talent.
In 1956, John McCarthy, an American computer scientist, published the article “Proposals for the design of an intelligent machine.” At that moment, the concept of AI was born. Since then, scientists’ curiosity about this tool has been unstoppable. Today, the creative process carried out by humans can be done by artificial intelligence, which is called Generative Artificial Intelligence or synthetic media.
Through instructions provided with lines of text, applications can generate images, videos, or writings based on what machines have learned. It is speculated that by the year 2025, 90% of creative content will be produced by AI.
There are applications such as copy.ai, ChatGPT, DALL-E 2, Midjourney, or Stable Diffusion that can already be used by the public to create images, logos, works of art, and press articles, and it is only the beginning. It is expected that these tools will be able to write entire books in the future, compose songs, or produce a Hollywood-style animated film from a regular computer; it is also expected to extend to other creative professions such as architects or engineers, covering all areas of human production is only a matter of time.
According to Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn, Artificial Intelligence, rather than replacing humans in different professions, is a tool to enhance human capability. No matter what skill a designer has with Photoshop, for example, the use of AI can take their creativity to the next level, he affirmed.
However, AI has its negatives. Nina Schinck, an expert and author of the book “Deepfakes: The Coming Infocalypse,” states that this technology brings new challenges for cybersecurity. It could impersonate people’s identities, place the face of a known person in a pornographic scene, or generate copyright issues, causing the audience to lose credibility with digital content, among other aspects. One cannot be naive and think that AI cannot be used maliciously or even as a weapon, Schinck asserts.
Nevertheless, artificial intelligence is already here. It will transform the world and do so quickly. Humanity had not seen an advancement that affected it so much since the invention of the printing press or the electric light bulb, and it is already among us, almost without us realizing it.
Personally, I created this article with the help of the Copy.ai application, and the illustration was created synthetically with DALL-E.
